The Weekend Reset That Actually Changed How My Mondays Feel

I used to spend Sunday nights already dreading Monday. Not because I hate my job or anything like that. I just never felt ready. The house was a mess. The fridge was empty. I would lay in bed scrolling my phone thinking about all the stuff I should have done.

So I started doing this thing I call a weekend reset. It sounds fancier than it is. On Sunday afternoon I spend about two hours getting things back in order. One load of laundry. Wipe down the kitchen counters. Take out the trash. Prep a few meals for the week. Nothing crazy. Usually just cutting vegetables and making a big batch of rice or pasta.

The part that surprised me most was how much fresh sheets matter. I know that sounds silly. But climbing into a bed with clean sheets on Sunday night makes me feel like I have my life together. It is such a small thing but it changes my whole mood going into the new week.

I also started picking out my Monday clothes on Sunday night. Not new advice. But it removes one small decision from my morning. I wake up feeling like the day is already partly handled.

The meal prep saves me the most money. Before the reset I was buying lunch almost every day. I never had anything ready to grab. Now I have containers in the fridge and it takes me thirty seconds to toss one in my bag on the way out.

I will be honest though. I do not do this every Sunday. Some weekends I am busy or tired or just not in the mood. And that is okay. The weeks I skip the reset I notice the difference by Tuesday. Things feel messier. I eat out more. I go to bed stressed. But I do not beat myself up about it. The reset is there when I can do it. When I cannot, next Sunday will come around.

If your weeks feel like they are running you instead of the other way around, try giving yourself a couple hours on Sunday to just get things back in order. You do not need a checklist or a special system. Just do the things that will make Monday morning feel a little less heavy.
